Confirmation Service Pictures

St George’s was packed to the rafters on the 4th November as we welcomed confirmation candidates from both our own congregation and other local churches plus the Bishop of Reading, the Rt Revd Andrew Proud.   If you missed the service, or would like to relive the joy and warmth of the occasion, here are a couple of photos below.
Grace and peace to all who were confirmed that day.

PS:  Revds Becky and Terry are always delighted to hear from anyone wishing to be baptized or confirmed!  You can contact them at vicar@st-george-newbury.org.uk

Stay & Play Every Wednesday Morning

Did you know that every Wednesday morning we have a service at St George’s particularly aimed at parents with their babies and small children?
All through the year we serve fresh coffee, tea, squash and biscuits (sometimes cake!) from 9am in the meeting room.  There are toys for children and its a chance for parents to have a chat and a catch up over a coffee.
At 9.30 we hold a very informal service in the kids corner of the church, where there are more toys as well as baby mats and colouring things for the children, musical instruments to play during the songs, and fruit for children during communion.  Its very low key, and very friendly.  Just …

Tiddlers and Toddlers – Can you help?

We are very much in need of some help at St George’s Hall at 1pm on Mondays to put out tables, chairs and toys for Tiddlers and Toddlers.  Tiddlers and Toddlers meets weekly during term time for the benefit of young children and their families – we rely on volunteers.  Help is needed to bring the toys from the outside shed into the Hall but we will only have 30 minutes to set up and are short of helpers.  If anyone is free and able to help we would be really grateful.

Thy Kingdom Come – Photos from a wonderful week at St George’s

Last week was a busy week in the life of St George’s.  The church was filled with interactive prayer stations to celebrate the international week of prayer ‘Thy Kingdom Come’.  We had (amongst other things) a labyrinth, a sheepfold, a vine and a bread buffet complete with giant pretzel!
The church was full of people too, it was open all day, every day, with visitors from other churches in the area coming to see what was going on, plus groups from Falkland School and parents and grandparents stopping by after school and preschool.  Lots of people came to visit who would not normally cross the threshold.
Each day at 2.30 the north transept was transformed into a …

Easter Art Display – by Falkland School children

If you are passing by the church do pop in and have a look at the display of Easter artwork up in the annexe. Falkland School was asked to design St George’s Easter Card, and the runner up was chosen for the cover of this month’s edition of the Wash Commoner.  The winners and other highly commended entries are up on display over the Easter period at St George’s.
Rev’d Becky, who had the difficult job of selecting the winner, said that it was a challenge to pick one as all the entries were so good; ‘Its not about which picture is best but which design is right for the Easter card. Harvey’s picture of Jesus …

Praying for Holiday Club

Holiday Club is less than a week away, please do remember Holiday Club, the children and the leadership team, in your prayers this week:

Please pray for the safety of all throughout the week.
Pray for the children, that they may enjoy the week and remember some of the stories they have learned from the Bible.
Pray for their parents, that they may encourage the children in what they have learned.
Pray for all those who make Holiday Club a success; the leaders and helpers, the refreshments and registration teams, and for the youth group – Justacross.

Thank you.
