Charitable Giving at St George’s

St George’s is committed to giving 10% of income, net of the Parish Share, to charitable organisations each year.  Guidelines have been agreed with the PCC with regard to the selection of charities supported and requests from the congregation are welcomed.

Based on the budgeted net income for the year St George’s supports three main charities, one national, one international and one local, for three years.   One is reviewed each year on a rolling basis.  The balance of funds is distributed to a variety of charities which vary year to year with the exception of the Children’s Society to which St George’s has an ongoing commitment.

In addition to the budgeted sum available for distribution each year there are other collections including Lent Box collections, Christingle collections and emergency appeals.

Total charitable giving in recent years has been in the region of £6,000pa.
