The Magic of Christingle – Photos

Article posted on 3 December 2018 Leave a Comment

The season of Advent got off to a magical start last Sunday at our annual Christingle service.

The church was packed and the chancel was festooned with oranges (of varying sizes!) , candles and sweeties.  Rev’d Becky and her merry band of helpers, assembled the giant christingle and explained the meaning and symbolism of the orange, its red ribbon, the sweets and the candle.  And there was a special sort of hush throughout the church as the lights were dimmed and the Christingles were lit.  Singing ‘Away in a Manger’ by candlelight – it really did feel like Christmas.

A collection was received for the Children’s Society, which works tirelessly during the year to make sure that no child is alone at Christmas.

This Christmas we are all invited to ‘Follow the Star’ to Jesus, the light of the world.  If you would like to come to any of the services at your parish church, please do feel very welcome.  Details of service times are listed on the website.
